The e-Bulk solution is hosted within an ISO27001, Capita owned data centre and all components of the solution are protected by intrusion detection and intrusion prevention devices. All upgrades and enhancements to the solution are vulnerability tested prior to live implementation. All operating system components are hardened to ensure all unnecessary ports are deactivated to reduce any potential risk regarding these services.

Capita subscribes to a number of vulnerability detection agencies and test and implement all relevant patches to ensure the system is fully up-to-date to further reduce the risk of known vulnerabilities being exploited.

Capita use a number of different services to ensure the security of the both the infrastructure and the e-Bulk software. Application penetration testing is completed with the use of IBM’s AppScan which is run and maintained in-house to enable fast and effective scanning of the software.

External penetration testing is provided by two suppliers, NCC and Netcraft. Both suppliers are CESG CHECK accredited and are members of CREST (Council of registered Ethical Security Testers).

The CRVS hosted solution is backed up in full every night and securely held within a second data centre to ensure the protection of this data for restoring purposes. Data integrity is maintained using a customer specific certificate obtained from the CRB. This certificate ensures that only data sourced from the customer database can be submitted to the CRB and responses returned.

This accreditation allows CRVS to host online checking solutions on behalf of other Registered Bodies.
