There may be an increase in demand for Criminal Records Bureau (
CRB) checks in the Plymouth region later this month after it was revealed that a new pre-school facility has opened in the area.
Under government regulations, anybody who comes into regular or sustained contact with children or vulnerable adults, such as nursery workers, must go through a rigorous
recruitment vetting check.
Greenshoots has opened yesterday (September 2nd) in the grounds of the Laira Green Primary School and will provide education for children aged between three and five years.
The facility has been rebuilt for the new intake of children and includes improved security measures.
Laira Green head teacher Daisy Bailey, herself a trustee, told the Plymouth Herald that Greenshoots was providing a fresh start for the area with new staff, new children and new surroundings.
She said there had been a "huge investment", both in terms of start-up costs and in volunteers' own personal time, to get the project off the ground.
