A children's daycare centre in Lincolnshire was given a notice to improve by Ofsted after failing to carry out Criminal Records Bureau (
CRB) checks correctly.
The Lincolnshire Echo reported that Alphabet's Day Care, based in Gainsborough, was given the notice following a complaint from a concerned parent.
However, Jasmine Atkinson, who runs the centre, told the news provider that the problem concerned the length of time it took for the background checks to come back from the bureau.
"We were given an action by Ofsted because some of the
CRB checks are not through but what can you do when you have sent all the paperwork off and you're waiting for them to come back?" said Miss Atkinson.
"They take six to eight weeks to come through."
When waiting for checks to come back, the rules are that a member of staff who is CRB checked has to be on the premises for every session.
